The new iPad Pro may not have a home button

Photo: Benjamin Geskin/Twitter

The rumours about an iPad Pro without a home button seem to finally have come true reported 9 to 5Mac.
In a newly revealed icon, the iPad Pro has thin bezels, rounded corners, no home button and no notch.
The icon reveals the volume buttons on the side and a sleep button at the top. The screen seems to have a good bezel to help avoid unintentional touches on the screen.
This seems in line with earlier rumours about the new iPads having larger displays, Face ID system, USB-C ports, an updated Apple Pencil and no headphone jack.
All the rumours will soon be confirmed at the iPad Pro and Mac launch in New York city on October 30.

Samsung testing Behind-Display Selfie Cameras for future smartphones

Samsung is currently testing Behind-Display Selfie Cameras for its smartphones.

But this new feature is not expected in the near future as it is still in the developmental phase.
The requirement of other sensors and front-facing cameras means that there is a need for a pop-out mode or a bezel but the mobile phone giant is not interested in implementing such ideas.
This is the reason why it’s testing a few prototypes that require the use of behind-the-screen selfie cameras. Several reports have stated that the new feature will be made available for smartphones in 2020.
Samsung keeps introducing new features to its smartphones and always tries to introduce something special and different in their flagship phones.
The devices, which are expected to be released in 2019, are expected to have in-display fingerprint scanners and a higher screen-to-body ratio.

What does the ‘R’ in iPhone XR stand for?

While many people were excited at the launch of new iPhones, some were left puzzled by their names: iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR.

Apple’s mobile phones have seen an -S or -R appended to their names. However, it left many people thinking what do they actually stand for.
The software company’s worldwide marketing vice president Phil Schiller revealed to Engadget that the letters don’t actually stand for anything at all.
Schiller did give an explanation for what the letters mean to him. “I love cars and things that go fast, and R and S are both letters used to denote sports cars that are really extra special.”
However, this is not how it started. When Apple first announced the iPhone 3GS, Schiller said that the ‘S’ simply stood for speed. “This is the most powerful, fastest iPhone we’ve ever made.”
When iPhone 4S rolled two years later, CEO Tim Cook said that the ‘S’ stood for Siri, Apple’s then newly introduced digital assistant.

Yu was said that his company focusing on introducing a smartphone like the Mate 20 X — a smartphone with a 7.2-inch screen that could certainly use a fold.
The idea of a fold able smartphone has been around for years now but technical issues have hampered its sale to the general public.

China advises Trump to use Huawei if iPhone is insecure

China has suggested Donald Trump replace his iPhone with a Huawei phone after the New York Times reported that Chinese and Russian spies are listening to the US President’s conversation with his friends on his unsecured iPhone.
Citing US intelligence reports, the NYT said that Trump aides have repeatedly warned him against using his personal iPhone and advised him to use the secure White House landline.
According to South China Morning Post, the Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman said if Trump is concerned about the security of his iPhone, he can consider switching over to a Huawei, or cut off communications altogether.
She dismissed the NYT story as another example of “fake news”.
“Seeing this report, I feel there are those in America who are working all-out to win the Oscar for best screenplay,” Hua Chunying said. (Source Samaa News Oct 26,2018)

Apple and Samsung Fined over slow phones

An Italian watchdog has fined Apple and Samsung over complaints that the software updates slow down mobile phones.

They were fined €5 million each. Apple was additionally charged with €5 million for failing to provide clear information about mobile maintenance and battery replacement.
Italian consumers complained that software updates were making their mobile phones slow, and it pushed them to buy new phones.
The Italian watchdog said that Apple and Samsung firmware updates “had caused serious dysfunctions and reduced performance significantly, thereby accelerating the process of replacing them.”
Apple also acknowledged that iPhones became slow because of battery problems, but denied doing anything purposefully to shorten the product life. The firm has apologised for its actions.
Samsung, however, appealed against the decision. “Samsung did not issue any software update that reduced the Galaxy Note 4’s performance,” the statement said. “In contrast, Samsung has always released software updates enabling our customers to have the best experience possible.” (Source samma News Oct 25,2018)

Samsung's Galaxy S10

The new iPhones had their moment, subsequent up it is Samsung's turn. The Korean electronics titan is juggling some of gadgets that look set to drop next 12 months, according to a fresh Bloomberg report. Borrowing from Apple's manual, they encompass three Galaxy S10 fashions: an upgraded successor to the S9 (code named "Beyond"), a good bigger S10 Plus, and a inexpensive tool (inside the vein of the iPhone XR).

As has been the norm for Samsung flagships given that 2014's Galaxy Note Edge, the two high-end models may additionally % curved OLED screens and, as previously advised, in-show fingerprint sensors (a trick you will locate on Chinese smartphone-maker Vivo's Nex S). A rear triple digital camera setup is also at the cards, at the same time as the the front digital camera will be "seen and tucked below the screen." What's greater, Samsung is seemingly in talks with Verizon to launch the S10 inside the US with a 5G-successful chipset.

Cost-reducing method the inexpensive unit ought to inevitably lack those thrives. A fourth S10 prototype with out a headphone jack is also reportedly inside the works -- although it's doubtful if it'll get an respectable release. However, there's no word on pricing.

In addition, the file offers some new information on the organization's lengthy-gestating foldable smartphone (code named "Winner"). It seems Samsung is still on the fence approximately whether or not the smartphone's display must fold vertically or horizontally, which means the device (tipped to land among November and early 2019) can be farther off than concept. To nobody's wonder, Samsung is refusing to verify the information this some distance in advance of release.

Apple new Iphones

The California tech giant said it would begin selling its 5.8-inch iPhone XS and 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max later this month, keeping the starting price of the company’s top-end model at $999.Apple also announced a new iPhone XR starting at $749, available in October, with a 6.1-inch display.
The three phones are updates to last year’s iPhone X (“10”), which marks the 10th anniversary of the smartphone stretching the screen while keeping the overall handset size at or near that of previous models.
The new phones include more powerful processors and cameras, and a dual-SIM for its top-of-the-line devices.
“We are going to take iPhone X to the next level,” chief executive Tim Cook said at a media event at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.
‘iPhone Xc’ images leaked days ahead of launch

Apple vice president Phil Schiller called the latest models “a huge step forward for the future of the smartphone.”
The September event allows the company to unveil its latest offerings before the key holiday shopping season and comes with the global smartphone market largely saturated.

While the iPhone has made Apple the world’s most valuable company, worth more than $1 trillion, it has slipped to third place among smartphone makers as Chinese-based Huawei has grabbed the number two spot behind Samsung.
Analyst Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights & Strategy said Apple had done enough “to keep its smartphone growth going until the competition responds.”
Avi Greengart of the research firm GlobalData questioned how the XR and XS would fit into the market.
But he predicted the iPhone XS Max would “sell very, very well,” adding: “Even at $1099, the size/user experience differentiation is clear.”
Apple said the XS models would be sold from September 21 and the XR from October 26.
Apple also introduced the fourth generation of Apple Watch with a major redesign — and a series of features designed to improve its performance as a medical and health device.
The watch, sold in the United States from $399 and up, will be available in stores on September 21.
“Apple Watch has become an intelligent guardian for your health,” chief operating officer Jeff Williams said.
The smartwatches include an accelerometer and gyroscope, which are able to detect hard falls, and an electrical heart rate sensor that can take an electrocardiogram, described as a first for a wearable device.
“This is the first ECG product offered over the counter directly to consumers,” Williams said.
PHOTO: AFP
“Now you can take an ECG any time, anywhere, right from the wrist.”
The fall detection upgrade is seen as an important feature for elderly or disabled users.
“Identifying a fall may sound like a straightforward problem, but it requires a lot of data analysis,” Williams said.
If a person falls and then is motionless, the watch will call emergency services, he added.
Moorhead said the health features for the new devices were notable.
“I can see kids buying one for their parents and grandparents,” he said.
“Apple opened the aperture again and I believe Series 4 will sell better than all previous models.”
Research firm CB Insights said Apple is at a “crossroads” a decade after introducing the iPhone.
“Looking for the next wave, Apple is clearly expanding into augmented reality and wearables with the Apple Watch and AirPods wireless headphones,” the firm said.
“But the next ‘big one’ – a success and growth driver on the scale of the iPhone – has not yet been determined. Will it be augmented reality, auto, wearables? Or something else entirely?”
Apple’s event comes with the global smartphone market at near-peak saturation, and without a major catalyst for sales ahead of a likely rollout of 5G, or fifth generation, wireless networks, expected in 2019.
Research firm IDC expects worldwide smartphone shipments to decline 0.7 per cent in 2018 to 1.455 billion units, with growth likely to resume as 5G devices become available.
Cook said Apple was nearing the two-billion mark for devices with its mobile operating system known as iOS.
“We are about to hit a major milestone. We are about to ship our two billionth iOS device,” he said.
“This is astonishing iOS has changed the way we live
